Why AJAX sucks

Today when I tried to open a AJAX site, it took forever to load all the components on the page. My browser was even dead -- I had to use Ctrl+Alt+Del to kill the process. Franckly, I don't hate AJAX at all, but I fear the aweful loading process of a AJAX-packed page. There are two ways to improve it: 1. Control the use of AJAX; 2. Improve the browser; 3. Create a lightweight AJAX application or create a better technology to replace AJAX.
